I will be refitting and restoring a 1972 Chris-Craft 410 Commander, to be a high comfort off-grid live-aboard.  This website will document and record my adventure.  Basic boat statistics:  

Dimensions: Length: 41’ Beam: 14' Displacement: 26,660 Draft: 39"

Engines: Two 300 HP Ford 427’s

Tankage Fuel: 300 gallon  Water: 90 gallon Holding: 50 gallon.

Items needing restoration, New Items and Refits:


  1. 1.Move boat from Dallas Texas to Nashville Tennessee.

  2. 2. Fix hole in bow.

  3. 3.Super structure  Headliner replaced.

  4. 4. Stop leaks. (Inside Calk foot boards )

  5. 5. Fix head Forward

  6. 6.Wood flooring Cabin.

  7. 7.Replace helm chair.

  8. 8. Get CO detector

  9. 9. Get wire toner

  10. 10. Fix pipe.

  11. 11. Replace pressure pump

  12. 12. Fix bilge pumps.

  13. 13. Access port trim.

  14. 14. Internet access.

  15. 15.Get smoke/fire detector.

  16. 16.Stop leaks. (Outside Calk foot boards )

  17. 17.Fill all deck holes.

  18. 18. Install Zincs

  19. 19. Register boat.

  20. 20. Refrigerator.

  21. 21.Washer dryer.

  22. 22.New convection steam microwave.

  23. 23.Fix head Aft

  24. 24. Get Gas.

  25. 25. Charge A/C and/or fix A/C pumps.

  26. 26.Move plumbing to forward wall in engine room.

  27. 27. Fix Helm wiring.

  28. 28. Wood flooring aft

  29. 29. Wood Flooring forward

  30. 30. Turn Starboard cabin cubby into chart table.

  31. 31. Add over hang to galley cabinet

  32. 32.Make sure everything but bulge pump is on a fuse. 

  33. 33.Inventory all electric items on the boat. Get serial number and model of all equipment.

  34. 34.Take TN boat test.

  35. 35.Take care of all problem items listed on survey.

  36. 36.More light in all rooms.

  37. 37.Buy good drawer hardware.

  38. 38.Build Spice shelving in Galley wall cabinets.

  39. 39.Replace Mirror cabinets in galley.

  40. 40.Get deck water inlet.

  41. 41. Fix guest berth headliner.  

  42. 42.Tile bathrooms.

  43. 43.Clean everything from top to bottom.

  44. 44.Put in reflective insulation in engine room Paint rest white.

  45. 45. Cellular wireless internet antenna and booster.

  46. 46.Redo Bathroom sinks (short sink in forward, new countertop and doors aft.)

  47. 47.Fix salon entry door.

  48. 48.Fiberglass cleaning and repair:  The out-side gel coat need to be polished and two small cracks need to be repaired.

  49. 49. The foot boards show some rot that need to be fixed, then they will also need to be re-varnished and resealed.

  50. 50.Generator Repair: The boat came with a gas Kohler 7.5 kWh generator.

  51. 51. Install Solar Cell Across hardtop and forward bump-out.

  52. 52. Areo6Gen wind Generator.

  53. 53. Inverter (For AC loads.) 

  54. 54. New Batteries bank. lithium iron potassium (At least 144vdc)

  55. 55. Charger. (If current is not good enough.)

  56. 56. Install Water Maker. (Spectra Ventura 150 Deluxe  or 180)

  57. 57. Electronic chart plotter with GPS. (Furuno MFD12 NavNet 3D Color 12.1" Multi Function Display or Raymarine C120)

  58. 58. VHF radio with location encoding.

  59. 59. AIS  signals system.

  60. 60. Re-Power with Hybrid-electric motors.

  61. 61. Auto trim tab.

  62. 62. Fit new Stabilizers.
